Online Silent Auction
Online Silent Auction
The County Food Hub's Annual Online Auction will run from November 1st to November 30th. Proceeds from this year’s auction will support food security initiatives in our community.
Did you know that the food insecurity rate in PEC is higher than the provincial average? Last year, we launched a Cooking Club at County Food Hub, offering a five-week culinary course for children, youth, and seniors. Cooking classes can significantly help by teaching individuals how to make the most of available resources. Our classes focus on using seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, which can be more affordable and beneficial for local economies. Moreover, these classes foster community as participants share experiences and support each other. By offering no-cost classes, we eliminate barriers, enabling participants to gain kitchen confidence and a sense of empowerment.
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Born out of the availability of excess space of an elementary school scheduled for closure, County Food Hub is an exemplar of how to ensure a stronger commitment to rural education while supporting the needs of a vital culinary industry and developing a broader commitment to sustainable healthy food development and education.
